East Dean & Friston Residents' Association

Did you know...?
The Residents' Association has been working to make East Dean and Friston a better place to live in since 1959. In the current climate where pressure to build on green field sites is greater than ever, the Association is actively involved in securing restriction, where possible, of excessive and unsuitable building development. With over 800 members, the Association is able to act as a collective voice for the whole community on local government and planning issues that affect our villages. There are also the little things we take for granted, like replacing road name plates around the villages, providing the popular community notice boards and looking after the Greensward.

What’s in it for me?
Membership of the Residents Association is voluntary, so you may consider it’s not worth joining. But, without the Association, who would take on the responsibility for those little jobs mentioned above? By joining or continuing your membership to the Residents Association, you are voicing your interest in how your village is looked after.

What does it cost?
If you live on the Downlands Estate, i.e. if you access you house from either the Windmill Lane or Michel Dene Road entrances to the Estate, membership of the Residents Association costs £3.00 per adult per year. If you live elsewhere in East Dean, Friston, Crowlink or Birling Gap, membership costs £1.50 per adult per year. We are also pleased to accept additional voluntary contributions to ease the strain on our limited financial resources.

How do I join? email us and we’ll send you a form.
