94.5% in favour of the plan

On Thursday February 12th Parish residents cast their votes in the Neighbourhood Plan referendum delivering an overwhelming ‘Yes’ approving to adopt the Plan.   Of the 587 votes cast, 557 votes were for adoption of the Plan and 30 were against, thus showing 94.8% in favour.  1414 people were eligible to vote, giving a turnout of 41.5%, well above other parishes in Wealden, which have ranged in the 20% to 30% region.   Now that the referendum has concluded with a ‘Yes’ vote the Council must make (or adopt) the neighbourhood plan as soon as reasonably practicable. The plan then becomes part of the statutory development plan for the area.
