East Dean Players
Contact Cheryl Veitch
East Dean Players have been here in the village of East Dean for 70 years. They produce two plays per year,
a Spring and an Autumn Production; rehearsals are held in the Village Hall on a Monday and Thursday evening usually starting at 7.00 pm.
As always, The Players need more acting members, especially younger male members. We should also warmly welcome anyone with Directing experience, or those wishing to help back stage with lighting , costumes and set building.
Intent To Murder
Rehearsals are now underway for our 2020 Spring Production, the thriller “Intent to Murder”, directed by Cheryl Veitch. Cheryl has assembled a very talented cast, this will not be a show to miss.
We are delighted to have Debbie Black returning for her second production with East Dean Players taking on the female lead of Janet Preston.
A big thank you to director Marilynne Sharpin and her talented cast and crew for finishing our 2019 season with a very successful production of Alan Ayckbourn’s Bedroom Farce. We received great audience feedback and a very nice review from Robin and Ann Gregory from the Eastbourne Herald (a copy of the review and some photos from the production on page 2).
Debbie will be joined on stage by five East Dean stalwarts – Stephen Lowin (in the male lead of George); Robin Clarke (as Henderson); Polly McGrane (as Chris); Camber Sands (as Larry); and Marilynne Sharpin (as Mrs Bunting).
Within minutes of the opening of this play, we are plunged into the middle of an explosive situation. Janet Preston, a well-known author of mystery thrillers lives alone in a remote cottage on the Yorkshire Moors. Her estranged husband has arrived unexpectedly while on the run from the police.
Janet is confronted by her husband’s accomplice George who proceeds to blackmail her. The events that follow are full of twists and excitement, building to the unexpected conclusion.
“Intent to Murder” will be performed on the 16th, 17th and 18th April.
