Latest news from EDDR
As Chairman of the EDDR I wish you a Happy New Year as we begin 2025.
The fee for maintaining the roads and gullies for 2025, as agreed by the shareholders at the AGM in March 2024, is £125 per household. I would ask you to please pay this sum as soon as you can so we can make early arrangements with our contractors. The attached invoice includes details of how you can pay us this year.
As I'm sure you will be aware, the Company is run by volunteers, and it is both time-consuming and expensive for us to have to chase up residents who don't pay immediately.
At our AGM it was unanimously agreed that it is very important that we keep the Estate roads well maintained and in good order as we all need to use them in one form or another. We also need to ensure good access for emergency services and deliveries. We do not receive any payment from the local authority because we are a private estate. It is therefore up to us as a community of residents to ensure that our roads are well maintained and usable.
We have had a busy year, and I am very grateful to those that help us either in an official regular capacity or on an ad hoc basis when necessary. Stewart Fuller is happy to continue as a Director and our Company Secretary and he has taken on responsibility for a number of the necessary administration tasks for the Company which works on your behalf. Rowland Hoar has also helped enormously as our Administrator over the last couple of years and we have been extremely grateful for all of his hard work and patience. He is however stepping down in early 2025 and will be replaced by Caraline Marchant who has kindly offered to help us as our Administrator. You will therefore start to see her name in addition to Stewart's and mine on correspondence.
During the last year we have carried out urgent pothole repairs and arranged for the gullies to be cleaned and emptied. We also arranged for repairs to be made to the gullies that were not draining away as quickly as they should. We arranged for the installation of a new kerb at the corner of Deneside and Micheldene Road where the hedge had been removed for safety reasons, and for the refreshing of junction white lining. Resurfacing of the roads in part of Summerdown Lane, part of Hillside, and Warren Close also took place.
If you are not a Shareholder of EDDR, I would encourage you to become one. There is no fee, and being a shareholder enables you to vote at our meetings*. Please let us know if you would like to become a member.
Finally, if you are receiving this letter by post and you have an email address, please let us know your email so we can save on postage costs. And do let us know if you spot anything that needs to be looked at concerning the condition of the roads and drainage gullies. We can be contacted by email (eastdeanroads@hotmail.co.uk) or via the Contact Us page on our new website (www.eastdeanroads.co.uk). Please note however that we do not maintain any of the verges or signage on the estate. And we do not maintain any drainage on residents' private property.
Yours faithfully
Robert Corbett
